Personality

Rumkalli is quite soft-spoken, but with an edge to her voice that shows she means business. She is fair and likes to think that she is at least respected by her fellow herd members, if not their actual friend. She has quite a magnetic personality, and often finds that when another is in trouble they come to her for help, perhaps because she keeps her word and her secrets just that - secret. Her wish is to have a safe, stable herd in which all members are happy and settled, but her most personal goal is to bring back the idea that magic can be prominent in Dolothlin once again. She tries to keep that idea alive in the minds of her fellow herd-mates in the hopes that, as a herd, they can one day prove the others wrong and bring back magic to the lands.
But she realises that this will be a long and arduous journey and so for now is focused and remaining level headed and keeping controll over the basics such as shelter, safety and sustenance. If she feels someone is stepping out of line she cant help but snap a bit, trying to put them back in their place. She feels a little cruel but is only trying to do her best for the herd, even if it makes them dislike her. Her favourite thing to do is to head out into the Thalore section of the Rocky Marsh and listen to the wind whistling between the rocks and grasses. It's quite a lonely place, but here she feels she has space to think. Sometimes, she fancies she hears things on the wind. She has an affintity with the weather and the wind and although she cannot control it well yet being in the breeze makes her feel comfortable.

History

Born to an average but rogue herd, she spent a happy childhood. Little did she know that she was being well sheltered from a history that she would come to treasure. Her parents and the rest of her herd no longer believed in magic, and found the idea preposterous. They only held respect for it in the form of a story, a legend of the land long passed. Rum was happy in her herd, until they crossed a rogue injured stallion. The herd was kind but for it's ignorance, and too him in to protect him until he was healed. as they rested that evening, the tiny foal that was Rumkalli wobbled over to this scarred stallion and they began to talk. He told her of the legends and his warring ways. He showed her all his cuts and bruises and his old scars. He told her the oldest were made by magic. He insisted that it still existed, and with a twinkle in his eye he turned his back on her and left.
In the morning, she asked the herd leader about the legends, and if they really were just legends. The herd leader was unpleased by her queries and mentioned her unfaithfullness to Rumkalli's parents. Rumkalli pushed and pushed and in the end her herd abandoned her, left her to roam alone. As she wandered aimlessly she began to pick up things from the wold around her, little things which didn't mean much alone but together were enough to convince her that magic still existed. So, with the new found purpose of finding others who believed too she set off into the wilderness.
It was fairly treacherous - she tried to be careful of predators and rogue horses who didn't have companionship in mind. She followed the wind, hoping that over every ridge, over every mountain range she'd find horses who believed like she did. As she grew, she became canny, and was able to look after herself, but she still hadnt found any like minded-companions. Growing weary and unsure of her journey, she followed a stream between two mountain ranges. The going was tough, the banks of the river rocky. Eventually the mountains fell away to the sides and lush green grass swathed the hillsides. On the banks of a lake she spotted what she had been waiting for - a herd! She felt the familiar pang of excitement followed by that of disappointment. What if, like the others she'd met, these horses would mock her again? Mock and push her away? She took a deep breath and steadily made her way down the slope.
